The PGA Partners with LICSF to Offer Special Ticket Program Exclusively for Long Island Caddies
Farmingdale, N.Y. (May 6, 2019) – The PGA of America, in partnership with the Long Island Caddie Scholarship Fund (LICSF), is offering a special ticket program for active caddies at LICSF participating facilities for the 101st PGA Championship. Caddies will be provided complementary access to the practice rounds on May 13th-15th with proof of the unique credential card.
This unprecedented program was conceived to give deserved recognition to the importance of caddie programs, especially participation of youth caddies, on Long Island, and the value such programs add to the game of golf. Bethpage has a rich history of promoting the great tradition of the caddie. The Black Course, the host of the 101st PGA Championship, is a walking only course that encourages and promotes golf as a walking game, played with caddies.
“We are excited to present this opportunity to a very special segment of our golf community,” said Charlie Robson, ’19 PGA Championship General Chair.
The LICSF provides need-based financial assistance to deserving caddies and others who work in service to golf, assisting in the pursuit of higher education. Since the Fund’s inception in 1962, 800 young men and women have received $4.1 million in scholarship aid. For the 2018-19 academic year, 121 students from 37 clubs and courses on Long Island attended college with the help of a caddie scholarship.
Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. will host the 101st PGA Championship, May 13-19, 2019. In 2024, the renowned course will host the Ryder Cup, a must-see event that brings together the finest tour professionals from the United States and Europe.
