Michael Tufo awarded first Alan Finkelstein Memorial Scholarship
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 10, 2026) – Michael Tufo of Wheatley Hills Golf Club has been awarded the first ever Alan Finkelstein Memorial Scholarship.
Tufo received the news with the rest of the recipients over the summer as he embarks on his second to last year at The City College of New York.
“It feels amazing,” Tufo said of receiving the scholarship. “It’s going to be really helpful and I’m really thankful for it.”
Finkelstein passed in 2024 and shortly after, members of Fresh Meadow Country Club, along with his close friends and family, raised the funds necessary to establish and endow a scholarship in his name.
“I feel honored. Finkelstein was a really philanthropic person,” Tufo added. “I’ve been told that he would’ve liked my story and I just feel very grateful.”
Finkelstein was a respected leader in golf on Long Island and served as an active LICSF board member for nearly 25 years. He was president of the Long Island Golf Association from 2013-2014 and received the association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2022 in recognition of his lifetime commitment to the game on Long Island.
